March 11, 2019, Weather: Very Cirrus, Art: A Great Dane, Thought: Sunspot Up Close

High cirrus clouds will keep things on the cloudy side today with a seasonable high of 51. Spring fever will hit hard midweek as we swing into the upper 60’s and low 70’s.

Carl Vilhelm Holsoe (Danish painter) 1863 – 1935, Reflections, oil on canvas, 35.75 x 37.75 in.
From the catalog notes: Holsoe painted this at Lille Hvidore, Klampenborg, where the sitter, Christine Caroline Christensen and her husband, Niels Otto Christensen, had a summer residence. Niels Otto was a successful businessman, whose company specialized in the dairy trade with America.

One of the clearest photos of a sunspot ever taken. (HT- – Universal-sci)
