Thought:

I was discussing with a couple of friends the use of the expression “He was disappeared,” as it was heard on a recent NPR story. Those friends and I have lived long enough to see broad changes in grammar and pronunciation. I have tried to stop letting those changes bother me so much. The important thing is clear communication.

Just because something is said in a way that does not fit a list of grammar rules or lands on the ear differently does not necessarily mean it will be misunderstood. In fact, the new way of saying it might be even more effective. As “Grammar Girl” says, changes and variety in language are normal. It is also normal to feel bothered by the changes.
