February 7, 2019, Spring and Winter Do Battle, Paintings Of Climate Change

It is that time of year when the seasons seem to battle. We know winter is not finished, but spring has decided to make an early challenge.

The active weather day ahead will likely consist of gusty winds, some thunder and heavy rain. A cold front this evening will sweep away the rain and drop our overnight low to 22. So, winter retakes its throne tomorrow and plays nice with cheery sunshine, but with high of only 29 we will be reminded that it is only early February.

The Deadly Truth behind Pieter Bruegel the Elder’s Idyllic Winter Landscapes

“But for the artist and the ordinary folk populating his winter works, these images would have been bittersweet, if not foreboding: At the time these paintings were made, they were living through a period of intense climate change now known as the ‘Little Ice Age.’”

“Learn how to see.
Realize that everything connects to everything else.”
