It was about 10 o’clock last evening when weather-watchers and snow lovers got that sinking feeling. It was becoming obvious that this winter storm just did not have the punch along the Ohio River that some of the computer models had hyped. We had gone from wild predictions of 7 to 11 inches to just a healthy dusting as of 5:00 AM here in northeast Oldham County. Others, of course, got more.
A few thoughts:
The National Weather Service office in Louisville never got caught up in the model fever and kept their predictions measured and, in the end, more accurate.
No amount of hope or hype will cause a chaotic weather system to perform as one might prefer. The Ohio Valley will break the heart of many a snow lover, storm chaser and weather forecaster.
Finally, it is cold. They got that right.
